At Figshare, our mission is to aid in the rapid dissemination of research in any form, be it preprints, datasets, presentations, or software. We believe that the best and fastest way to move scientific discovery forward is for research results to be open. There are many questions and opportunities that have been raised around open research in recent weeks and the uncertainty presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and the effect it will have on the global population is on all of our minds.
The significance of sharing research is vitally important, now more than ever, which is why we want to help in any way we can. To allow researchers to publish any COVID-19 related research, we’re launching a free portal at https://COVID19.figshare.com/.
The Figshare COVID-19 Open Research Portal will be dedicated to storing and sharing all existing coronavirus research across Figshare as well as all new COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2 research that is submitted in the weeks and months ahead.
All researchers will need to do is create an account on Figshare and upload content with COVID-19 as one of the keywords on their metadata form and we’ll pull it into the COVID-19 Open Research Portal.
Head over to https://COVID19.figshare.com and begin sharing today. If your dataset is larger than what Figshare’s free accounts normally allow, please contact us at email@example.com and we’ll modify your account’s storage to ensure the research can be published.
Please note, if your institution uses Figshare as a data or institutional repository, please continue to use that platform to store and share your COVID-19 research. COVID-19 research stored in institutional Figshare platforms will also be harvested into https://COVID19.figshare.com.
If you’d like to learn more about the https://COVID19.figshare.com portal, please visit our dedicated COVID-19 FAQ.
